Tenmoku bowl-Yohen glaze
96 hours—just enough time for a shooting star to arc across the sky, and the very length of time it takes for a Tenmoku tea cups to be transformed. The clay has 8% iron, it must be worked by hand and aged for 3 years; the glaze slurry is filtered 7 times; pinewood in the firing chamber is fed into the dragon kiln every 20 minutes. All those exacting particulars lead up to the moment when the kiln doors open, and perhaps one teacup will reveal a surprise shimmer of "Yohen" blue on its base—like an aurora rippling over still midnight waters.
Tenmoku bowl can be marked with your personal designs, a heritage piece where history occurs alongside your identity.
